OUT OF 16 REGIONS

REGION 1 recently logged 20,279 confirmed COVID-19 cases as 189 more cases were added on June 2, raising the number of active cases all over the region to 1,913, according to monitoring of the Department of Health-Center for Health Development (DOH-CHD 1).

But this is not a cause of concern because out of the 20,279 total confirmed cases, 17,805 had recovered while 561 had died.

With this trend, Dr. Anna de Guzman, provincial health officer, said Region 1 ranks No. 11 in COVID-19 cases among the 16 regions in the country.

With a population of 2.8 million, Pangasinan is still one of the lowest among the most populous provinces in the Philippines as evidenced by its continued Modified General Community Quarantine classification from June 1 to 15.

The number of active cases vis 9.43 percent of the total of confirmed cases while total recoveries already comprise 87.80 percent. Only 2.77 percent died during the pandemic to date.

Meanwhile, DOH-CHD 1 said Pangasinan still leads in the number of active cases in the region with 765, followed by La Union (500), Ilocos Sur (356), Ilocos Norte (216) and Dagupan City (76).

On June 2, LU reported 75 new cases, Pangasinan (58), Ilocos Sur (24), Dagupan City (17) and Ilocos Norte (15). (Leonardo Micua)
