Pangasinan’s most wanted man arrested in Laguna

A NATIONAL level-listed wanted person from Pangasinan with P550,000 reward for his capture was arrested by joint police operatives on June 17 in Calamba, Laguna after years of hiding from the long arm of the law.

Arrested was Montesson Ignacio Jr., alias “Pogito”, a construction worker from San Quintin town.

Ignacio who is a suspected gun-for-hire, was the number one most wanted person in Pangasinan and Region 1 based on his string of cases that range from murder, frustrated murder, homicide and attempted carnapping.

The monetary reward for Ignacio’s capture was covered by a memorandum Circular 2005-97 of the Department old the Interior and Local Government dated  20 September 2005.

A report relayed to The PUNCH by P/Major. Arturo Melchor Jr., public information officer of the Pangasinan Police Office, showed that Ignacio was arrested from his hideout in an operation led by the Umingan Police Station with the participation of Counter-Intelligence Unit of Police Regional Office 4-1, Intelligence units of Police Regional Office 1 and Pangasinan, San Quintin Police Station, 2nd Police Mobile Force Company in Tayug and other police units.

Ignacio had a series of warrants of arrest issued in the past by various Regional Trial Courts in Pangasinan, two of which for murder and homicide where the judges recommended no bail bond for his temporary liberty.

Six warrants of arrests were issued against him:

1) For frustrated homicide (two counts) by virtue of a Warrant of Arrest (WOA) dated June 30, 2008.  2) For Attempted Carnapping by virtue of a WOA dated October 27, 2005 3) For  Murder by virtue of WOA dated October 27, 2005. 4) For Frustrated murder by virtue of WOA dated October 27, 2008.  5) For Frustrated Murder by virtue of WOA dated August 18, 2004.  6) For homicide by virtue of WOA dated March 29, 2005

The accused is now under the custody of the Umingan Police Station. (Leonardo Micua)
