CONTRACTS EXPIRE ON AUG 2

EFFORTS in contact-tracing in the region may be derailed if the contracts of the contact tracers deployed by the regional office of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) are not renewed when these contracts expire on August 2.

This was revealed by Agnes de Leon, assistant DILG regional director, during the PIA Kapehan sa Ilocos on June 15, adding that the contracts will only be renewed if the Department of Budget and Management grants the request of the DILG regional office for the release of augmentation fund for the contact-tracing activity.

De Leon said her office is hopeful that the realignment of the unspent Bayanihan 2 funds being deliberated upon by Congress will include funding for contact tracing which is essential in the campaign to contain COVID-19 cases in the region.

If the contracts are not renewed on time, she expressed hope that the local governments will absorb them for their respective campaigns. (Leonardo Micua)
