Strict enforcement of quarantine protocols ordered
SAN CARLOS ACTS VS SPIKE IN COVID-19 CASES
THE San Carlos City government started to implement stringent measures anew last Monday, May 10 to contain the further transmission of the virus after a week of surge in COVID-19 cases.
City Information Officer Jhuliano Nazareno said the move will expectedly result in seeing an end to the spike in active cases in the city after the Provincial Health Office (PHO) reported 105 active cases on May 10.
Nazareno theorized that the increase in the number of cases over the past week could be attributed to “quarantine fatigue.” of residents.
He added that the demographics of San Carlos City could also be one of the factors that led to the growing number of cases citing the improved testing of targeted sectors that determined who need to be isolated.
Nazareno said residents who had a direct exposure to a COVID-19 positive case are listed as priority for reverse-transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) test.
Meanwhile, Mayor Julier Resuello met with city officials and barangay captains for the strict enforcement of health protocols, among these were: restoration of market schedule and presentation of quarantine pass when entering the public market; re-imposition of stringent control at border checkpoints, and stricter implementation of provincial curfew hours.
However, the city government decided it will declare a higher level of quarantine category as it announced earlier. (Jerick Pasiliao)
