Active COVID-19 cases up by 109 ‘positives’

THE number of active COVID-19 cases in Pangasinan rose slightly to 734 on May 6, or up by 109, from 625 as of April 29, after the Provincial Health Office (PHO) registered 495 new confirmed cases as compared to 375 new recoveries and 12 new deaths.
This as the provincial Inter -Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID) reported that the occupancy rate of the 2,035 isolation units all over Pangasinan as of May 3, was only 8.3 percent with only 179 COVID-19 positive cases isolated.
The rest of the active cases were confined in hospitals as confirmed by Rhoda Dilay-an, in charge of monitoring COVID-19 cases, when she told the Sangguniang Panlalawigan that all hospitals in Pangasinan are full with confirmed cases.
The new confirmed cases registered raised the number of confirmed cases in Pangasinan to 7,850 cases, since the contagion started. Dagupan contributed 1,436 cases.
With just 7,850 total confirmed cases, Pangasinan continues to rank among the lowest from the list of most populous provinces in the entire Philippines.
Meanwhile, the number of recoveries registered a new total of 6,832 while the death toll climbed to 318, from 316 a week ago.
Records of the PHO showed that the biggest turn-around of cases was on May 2 when 80 new active were confirmed. There were also 77 new cases that were added on May 6; 73 cases on May 5; 72 cases on May 4; 70 cases on April 30; 67 cases on May 3; and 56 on May 1.
New recoveries were also high: 82 on May 4; 64 and 54; on May 6 and 5, respectively; 48 and 44 on May 2 and 1, respectively; 62 on April 30 and 21 on May 3.
San Carlos City remains on top of the COVID-19 watchlist with 67, followed by Dagupan City, 53 cases, San Quintin, 51; Urdaneta City (44), Calasiao (36), (Alaminos City (26), Malasiqui (23), Bayambang (22) Lingayen (22), Mangaldan (21), Villasis (21), Mangatarem (20), Binmaley (20) and Bolinao, (18), Rosales (17), Bani (16), San Nicolas (15), Manaoag (14), San Jacinto (14), Sta. Barbara (14), Anda (13), Asingan (12), Balungao (11), San Fabian (11), Tayug (11), Sual (10) and Urbiztondo (10). (Leonardo Micua)
