THE Pangasinan Provincial Health Office (PHO) has recorded 22,000 persons already received their vaccines against COVID-19.

Dr. Anna de Guzman, provincial health officer, said as of Thursday, April 15, around 21,981 individuals were already inoculated: 18,000 individuals were inoculated with Sinovac vaccine, while the 4,000 were inoculated with the British-made AstraZeneca.

De Guzman also pointed out that health workers in public and private hospitals, including infirmary and other public health services such as Rural Health Units, Municipal and City Health Offices, are already receiving their second doses of the vaccines.

She said the PHO expects to complete the Group A priority list by the third quarter of the year which is largely dependent on the arrival of the expected vaccines.

Meanwhile, the Abig Pangasinan program of the provincial government remains on hold due to increasing COVID-19 cases in the province.

The Abig Pangasinan is a program launched by Governor Amado I. Espino III to mitigate the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the local economy by transporting locally-made products and services to different parts of the province at a cheaper price.

De Guzman said Espino decided to suspend the caravan in order to prevent provincial workers and patrons from contracting the dreaded virus.

She said the caravan will resume once the cases of infection drop. (Ahikam Pasion)
