New active 281cases reported amid fears of surge
POSITIVE CASES FROM NCR+ IN DAGUPAN CITY
THE number of active COVID-19 cases significantly decreased from 711 last week to 540 as of 6:00 p.m. on April 15.
The drop, however, is being attributed largely to the increasing number of patients recovering from the infection at 466, over the 281 new active cases logged over the period.
The 281 new cases are still considered high and the prospect of the cases continue to rise is feared by the unverified number of COVID-19 patients in Dagupan City’s private hospitals from the National Capital Region (NCR)+ ostensibly referred by their sister hospitals as well and the Department of Health (DOH).
Then new cases brought to 6,578 the number of confirmed cases recorded in the province, out of which 5,573 had recovered and 285 had died. The death toll includes the 30 fatalities recorded from April 9 to 15.
Alaminos continues to be epicenter of the pandemic in Pangasinan with 88 active cases, followed by Dagupan City (79), Urdaneta City (44), Villasis (32), Calasiao and Manaoag (20 each), Rosales and San. Carlos City (19 each), Malasiqui and Mangaldan (14 each), Aguilar and Lingayen (11 each), Binalonan, Sta. Barbara and Umingan (10 each).
Just three towns—Infanta, Labrador’s and Mabini—are still without any COVID-19 case.
Border control checkpoints in Pangasinan are still on high alert though the quarantine classification in the NCR+ was already downgraded to the less restrictive Modified Enhanced Community Quarantine (MECQ) from Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ).
The continuous rise of new active cases in La Union is giving rise to fears among health practitioners after many of its towns, including the city of San Fernando, have been placed under MECQ classification.
DOH already flagged Region 1 being closely watched over its rising number of cases of COVID-19. (Leonardo Micua)
