NO HEALTH DOCUMENTS

THE Public Order and Safety Office (POSO) of Dagupan City turned away three persons who obviously had traveled from the National Capital Region (NCR) plus bubble at the border control checkpoint in Barangay Tebeng in the city on Wednesday but failed to produce the required health documents.

In an interview, POSO chief Rob Erfe-Mejia said the driver was fined and passengers on board a Toyota Hi-Ace Grandia Van mid-morning were barred from entering the city.

Mejia said the driver and one passenger are residents of Lingayen town and Alaminos City while the second passenger who claimed to be a resident of  Barangay Pantal in the city failed to submit a RT-PCR test with negative result.

Subsequent investigation showed the van’s trip originated from Binmaley town and went to Dau, Pampanga to fetch a passenger traveling to Dagupan City.

Mejia said, the passenger from Dagupan City traveled to Samar, Leyte and passed by the NCR+.

The driver was fined P1,000.00 as penalty based on the existing city ordinance vs. colorum vehicles.

POSO has begun coordinating with other government agencies to investigate the illegal operations of private vehicles ferrying persons from areas under stricter community quarantine restrictions.

Meanwhile, the Ilocos Police Regional Force Batallion has sent more than a hundred augmentation force in Pangasinan to provide additional assistance at the various border control checkpoints in the province.

PPPO spokesperson Maj. Arturo Melchor Jr said posts on social media about persons and groups offering as non-essential travel to and from the NCR+ is still not allowed.

Melchor said only authorized persons outside of residence (APOR) are allowed to travel into and from the areas under stricter community quarantine restrictions. (Jerick Pasiliao /Ahikam Pasion)
