A clerk in a regional trial court in Tayug town who tested positive for COVID-19 in his antigen test reportedly committed suicide on April 22 in his residence in Barangay Rizal in Natividad town.

Crisanto Delos Reyes, 49, shot himself in the head with a cal.38 revolver.

Initial police investigation showed that the victim became depressed after he learned of the result of his COVID test.

Senior Master Sgt. Pepito Biasura Jr, investigator-on-case, said Delos Reyes was visited Thursday morning by the town’s contact-tracing team and was advised that he would be brought Umingan Community Hospital at 3:00 p.m that day.

Delos Reyes, a widower, shot himself dead before the team arrived.

Biasura said Delos Reyes was already reportedly giving his brother about the status and locations of his properties he would leave behind after his antigen result was released on Wednesday.

The cadaver of Delos Reyes was brought to a crematory in Calasiao town for cremation. (Eva Visperas)
