Dagupan SEA Games athletes visit Mayor Fernandez

SIX medal-winning athletes from Dagupan City, led by Wushu gold medalist Agatha Wong, shared their memorable experiences with the Dagupan community during the “Sumbungan ng Bayan” program hosted by Mayor Belen Fernandez on cable TV’s channel K-17 on December 23.

Accompanied by their coaches, the athletes were brought to the show by Finnela Sim and Nestor Duque from the Dagupan City Athletic Association.

Agatha Wong, who clinched gold in Women’s Taijiquan and Taijijuan in Wushu, was joined by fellow bronze medalists Susan Ramadan, who took third place in the Women’s 1500 meters in athletics, and John Matthew Manantan, who achieved bronze in the Men’s 67 kilograms category in Karate. All three athletes showcased their skills at the SEA Games 2025.

The program also featured Princess Sarah Grace Pascual, who earned a silver medal in ASEAN Taekwondo and qualified for the Asian Youth Games, alongside Batang Pinoy standout Mark Tyrone Reyes, who won bronze medals in Vault, Pommel Horse, and Parallel Bars in MAG HP4 Gymnastics; Seam Aurelio, who secured silver in Bantamweight in Taekwondo’s Kyurogi Cadet Division; and Jandy Vicariate, who took home bronze in Featherweight in Taekwondo’s Kyurogi Cadet Division.

In a heartfelt tribute, Mayor Fernandez praised the athletes and their coaches, stating, “You carry the pride of Dagupan with you in every competition. Our city believes in you and wholeheartedly supports your hard-earned victories, which bring honor to our people and nation.”

Fernandez expressed her pride in recognizing not only the athletes but also the coaches whose unwavering guidance contributed to their success. She reaffirmed her commitment to sports development, emphasizing, “Our support extends to both athletes and coaches because excellence is achieved through teamwork, rigorous training, and sustained investment.
