THE Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP) of Dagupan City, led by Vice Mayor Bryan Kua, has passed Resolution No. 8463-2025 commending Barangay II and III, headed by Barangay Captain Francisco Lopez and Sangguniang Kabataan Chairman Jonaiber Maca-ayao, for winning the championship title in the 2025 Dagupan Inter-Barangay Basketball Tournament.

The citywide tournament featured 31 participating barangays and culminated in an exciting final match at the Dagupan City People’s Astrodome, where Barangay II and III delivered a commanding 90–72 victory over Barangay Caranglaan. The championship game drew thousands of basketball fans who filled the venue in support of their hometown teams.

The resolution, authored by Councilor Bradley Benavidez and seconded by Councilors Jose Netu Tamayo and Michael Fernandez, lauded the exemplary performance of Barangay II and III as well as the sportsmanship demonstrated throughout the tournament. The SP also extended recognition to Barangay Caranglaan, along with all other participating barangays, organizers, and partners, for their efforts in making the annual basketball event a success.

Victor Ryan Maurin of Barangay II and III was named Finals Most Valuable Player (MVP), while his teammate Arnold de Guzman received the Season MVP award. Coach Simon Vistro was recognized as Coach of the Year.

Completing the Mythical Five were Crisanto Gallardo of Barangay Lucao; Victor Ryan Maurin and Khen Rainelle Palaroan of Barangay II and III; and Raymon Resarino and Benedict Celino of Barangay Caranglaan.

The SP further commended all players from the 31 barangay teams for their active participation, discipline, and display of fair play throughout the tournament. (Leonardo Micua)
