Pangasinan archers shine in national tournament
YOUNG elite archers of Pangasinan showcased their precision skills and shooting mastery as they bagged one gold, two silver, and four bronze medals during the Philippine Archery Cup Age Group Development Program Leg 2 held August 6-10, 2025, at the STI Gold Toe Archery Center in Marikina.
Sanctioned by the World Archery Philippines, the four-day event drew 500 budding archers across the country.
Thirteen-year-old Markeexia Gail Maiquez of Turac National High School in San Carlos City ruled the Recurve U13 Girls – 30 meters Olympic Round to claim the gold and secured a silver in the Qualifying Round.
Leila Jell Cano of Virgen Milagrosa University Foundation produced an impressive performance in Recurve U18 Women – 60 meters Qualifying Round when she grabbed the silver podium finish and a bronze medal in Recurve U18 Mixed Team Category.
On the other hand, Juan Daniel Banayos, Gavin John Raquel, and Ian Gabriel Narciso of Urdaneta City National High School made their mark in the Men’s Division.
Banayos took home two bronze medals in Recurve U18 Men – 60 meters in both Olympic and Qualifying Rounds, while Raquel and Narciso teamed up in Recurve U18 Mixed to garner the bronze.
“From the first arrow to the final shot, we stayed focused and determined in giving our best. Our passion, discipline, and courage to aim higher helped us gain these accomplishments,” Maiquez said.
