4 Dagupan athletes earn cash, recognition

FOUR Dagupan athletes who won medals in last week’s 2025 Palarong Pambansa in Laoag City were given recognition and cash reward by Mayor Belen Fernandez during the flag-raising ceremony on June 2 at the city plaza.

The athletes, their coaches and trainers were accompanied by Dagupan City Sports Officer Finnela Sim.

The city government awarded P5,000 for each silver medal and P3,000 for every bronze medal won by the athletes, while their coaches also received a cash gift.

Nine-year-old Carys Ether Navalta received the highest reward when she secured three medals in WAG Gymnastics (elementary) category: Silver in Single Bar Cluster 1, and Bronze medals in Vault Cluster 1 and Balance Beam Cluster event.

The other silver medalists were Crishnea Cielo Estrada in the 4×100  Medley Relay in swimming, and 15-year-old Mark Tyrone Reyes in the MAG Gymnastics (secondary) Team Standing category.

The other medalist is Jana Leah Juguilon, who earned the bronze in Taekwondo’s Secondary Girls Kyorugi-Bantamweight bracket.

Dagupan was part of the Region 1 team, which finished 12th overall in the 2025 Palarong Pambansa, participated in by 18 contingents. (Leonardo Micua)
