THE Pangasinan Heatwaves forged a come-from-behind victory and ended a three-game losing skid against the Pasay City Voyagers, 91-78, in the 7th Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League last May 17  at the Nueva Ecija Coliseum.

In the opening frame, Pasay started strong, shooting from deep, draining five triples with Cyrus Tabi leading the surge with two three-pointers to build a  24-16 cushion.

Pangasinan attempted a fightback in the second quarter courtesy of Lervin Flores’s inside hits with five points and four rebounds, but these were quickly repelled by Jasper Salenga who scored six points to retain Voyagers’ advantage at halftime, 46-38.

Underway in the third juncture, Heatwaves’ big man Lervin Flores continued to feast underneath the paint with a five-point rally. Vic Manuel provided ample support through his elbow jumpers and dialed in six points to capture the lead, 65-63.

Heading to the fourth, Pasay tried to make a break behind the efforts of Laurenz Victoria and Salenga, who combined for six markers, but Pangasinan maintained momentum and utilized a 14-point scoring spurt from Manuel, Flores, and Hesed Gabo to breakaway and seal the victory.

Pangasinan rode on Manuel with 14 points and five rebounds to garner the best player honors.  Flores showed out and contributed a double-double performance with 11 points and 10 boards.

For Pasay, Victoria delivered 15 points and four rebounds while Salenga registered 12 points.

The Pangasinan Heatwaves slid to the seventh spot of the MPBL Northern Division standings with a 6-4 win-loss record. (Kim Gealogo)
