3 Dagupan athletes bag silver in Palarong Pambansa
GYMNAST Mark Tyrone Reyes from Dagupan City secured the first silver medal for Region 1 at the Palarong Pambansa 2025 held in Laoag City, Ilocos Norte.
The second silver for the Ilocos Region team was won by Dagupan swimmer Chrishnea Cielo Estrada in the 4 x 10 relay.
Another gymnast from Dagupan added another silver medal for Region I. She is Cary Esther Navalta of St. Albert the Great School in Malued who earned the silver in Single Bar Cluster I in WAG Gymnastics in the elementary division.
She also grabbed two bronze medals in vault Apparatus Cluster I and in Balance Beam Cluster I, both in WAG Gymnastics.
Another Dagupeño athlete, Jonah Leah Juguilon, captured the bronze in Taekwondo’s Secondary Kyorugi in the bantamweight division.
Reyes, 15, a Grade 9 student of the JCCMI Christian Academy in Dagupan City, won a silver medal in the Men’s Artistic Gymnastics (MAG) Team competition last May 27 and was a finalist
for the pommel horse event.
Dagupan Mayor Belen Fernandez congratulated the young athletes for making the city proud.
Reyes, who continues to draw inspiration from 2024 Olympic gold medalist Carlos Yulo, has been training in gymnastics in Manila since he was seven years old, with full support from his family.
It was Reyes’ second time to join the Palarong Pambansa. He bagged a bronze medal at the Batang Pinoy competition last year. (Leonardo Micua)
