2 Urdaneta athletes bag gold for Region 1
2025 PALARONG PAMBANSA
A wrestler and a gymnast from Urdaneta City earned two of the eight gold medals hauled by Region 1 as of May 30 morning in the week-long Palarong Pambansa 2025 held in Laoag City Ilocos Norte until May 31.
Prince Amir Ragos bagged the gold in the secondary 42 kilogram category while his teammate, Ernesto Pagaduan III, got the bronze in the 44 kilogram category.
Both boys are students of the Cabaruan National High School in Urdaneta City and played under R1AA Urdaneta City.
They were coached by James Karloff Bongolan and trained under Trainer Coach Bartolommeo Perater.
In gymnastics, King Elyson Gangat of Urdaneta City SPED Center won the gold in elementary boys pommel horse (mushroom).
As of noon on May 30, the Ilocos Region was ranked 12th overall among 19 teams with eight gold, 16 silver, and 21 bronze medals, based on the official Palarong Pambansa medal tally website. (Leonardo Micua)
