Brgy Nagsaing wins Calasiao Inter-Barangay Basketball League
THE team Barangay Nagsaing showcased its dominance when it beat Barangay Buenlag to capture the championship, 78-62, in game 3 of the inaugural Mayor Kevin Roy Macanlalay Basketball League (MKBL) held March 30 at the Calasiao Sports Complex.
Leading the best-of-three series at 1-0, Nagsaing surged ahead through the two three-pointers of Ryan Antolin combined with the six points of Bryan Rodillas to carve a lead, 21-15.
Buenlag’s Dennis Peralta returned the favor with his inside connections and registered eight points, but Nagsaing’s Antolin asserted his sharpshooting skills and chipped in 6 points to retain the advantage at halftime, 35-27.
Coasting along the third, Nagsaing’s Rodillas caught fire with 12 points on his downhill drives. Peralta tried to make a break for Buenlag and answered with his 11-point outburst, but these were not enough to close out the deficit as Nagsaing concerted a 10-point cluster to extend the lead, 57-43.
Team Nagsaing pulled away in the final frame courtesy of Antolin’s 8 points alongside Jezreel Sanchez’s 6 markers to claim the 1st MKBL tiara. Rodillas lifted Barangay Nagsaing with 22 points, 10 rebounds, and 3 assists and took home the Finals MVP honors.
On the flipside, Barangay Buenlag gathered 29 points from Peralta and 7 markers from Mark Garcia. (Kim Gealogo)
