FOURTH District Rep. Christopher de Venecia called on bicycle enthusiasts to join the “Bisekleta Iglesia” 2025 on April 28, Maundy Thursday, to be held from 6:00 to 11:00 a.m. around the district in observance of the Holy Week and to promote local tourism.
The route will cover churches: St. Michael Archangel Parish Church and the Metropolitan Cathedral of St. John, in Dagupan City; Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Church in Mangaldan; St. Hyacinth Church in San Jacinto; Minor Basilica of Our Lady of the Rosary of Manaoag; Carmelite Monastery of St. Joseph in Palapad and St. Jude Chapel in Inmalog, San Fabian.
The culminating point will be at the Biker’s Den in San Fabian.
De Venecia organized the event in coordination with the Department of Tourism-Region 1, the local governments of Manaoag, San Jacinto and San Fabian, Biker’s Den San Fabian, Metro Dagupan Cycling Club Inc., and the Pangasinan 4th District Cycling Club.
Participants are encouraged to take a creative selfie with their bike beside them, using their own cellular phones, in front of the churches, and post these photos tagging De Venecia’s Facebook page, and using the hashtags #CDV, #ExplorePD4 and #PD4BisekletaIglesia2025.
Those who will post photos with the appropriate tags can win cash prizes.
The route map is available at designated spots at the churches, including stickers that participants must use on their respective maps.
Limited edition Bisekleta Iglesia 2025 shirts designed by Kurt de Leon of Freezing Point will be given to the first 300 finishers.
De Venecia also reminded participants to ensure that they and their bicycles are in tiptop condition, have a bottle for drinking water, and observe silence in the vicinity of the churches. (Leonardo Micua)
