FOURTEEN-year-old Leila Jell Cano of Virgen Milagrosa University Foundation again displayed her excellent precision skills when she garnered four golds at the Mission Hills Invitational Archery Tournament held at the Mission Hills Archery Range in Antipolo City last February 23.

Taking on a strong field of 13 archers, Cano showcased an incredible performance to rule in multiple categories in U18 Recurve 30m (Qualifying and Olympic Rounds) and Women’s Open Category Recurve 50m (Qualifying and Olympic Rounds).

In an interview, Cano said she focused on strengthening her mental fortitude during training sessions to enhance her ability to perform under pressure.

“Winning multiple golds in the tournament is a product of my hardships in training, I maintained a mindset of enjoying the competition, stay locked-in, and it turned out to be positive”, said Cano who trains under the auspices of San Carlos City Archery Club head coach Federico Lopez Jr.

Cano will display her marksmanship skills again during the Region I Athletic Association on March 10 to 15 in Bacnotan, La Union. (Kim Gealogo)
