
Pangasinan scorches Bulacan in MPBL, 91-51
THE Pangasinan Heatwaves waxed hot when they trounced the Bulacan Kuyas in a blowout, 91-51, in the 7th Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League last March 14, 2025 at the Alonte Sports Arena in Biñan, Laguna.
Heatwaves’ big man, Michael Mabulac, asserted his inside scoring and defense skills with seven points and two steals to grab the early lead, 21-10.
In the second quarter, Mike DiGregorio and Jorey Napoles grabbed the scoring chores for Pangasinan through driving layups to connive with eight points to maintain Pangasinan’s advantage in the halftime, 45-20.
During the second half action, the Kuyas kept grinding through mid-range pull-ups and floaters of RR De Leon and Jebb Bulawan to instigate a rally.
The Heatwaves countered with its collective scoring prowess courtesy of a 7-point cluster from King Gurtiza, 6-point burst of Vic Manuel, alongside the 5-point output of Jhapz Bautista to secure the win in a dominant fashion.
Pangasinan clobbered Bulacan off the boards, 55-39, and from the shaded area with 52 paint points against the 28 of Bulacan.
Mabulac paced Pangasinan with 14 points, six rebounds, and four steals to earn the best player honors over Mike DiGregorio, who finished with 12 points, and Gurtiza, who tallied 12 points and three boards.
For Bulacan, De Leon amassed 17 points and eight rebounds combined with the 13-point contribution of Bulawan.
