LAOAG City maintained a slim lead over Pangasinan 1 as of 10:50 p.m. last March 13 as the 2025 Region 1 Athletic Association (R1AA) Meet drew to a close in Bacnotan, La Union.

The Ilocos Norte capital bagged 46 gold, 46 silver and 36 gold medals against Pangasinan 1’s 43 gold, 45 silver and 30 bronze medals.

A few other events were still ongoing as of press time, participated in by other delegations.

Pangasinan II was in far third with 31 gold, 34 silver and 39 bronze medals while Ilocos Sur grabbed fourth place with 28 gold, 17 silver and 27 bronze medals.

A big surprise was Urdaneta City, finishing the meet with 27 gold 18 silver and 13 bronze medals for fifth place, overtaking Dagupan with 17 gold, 10 silver and 25 silver medals, gold for sixth place,

The other finishers are Ilocos Norte, seventh with 16-23-21 gold, silver, bronze count; La Union, eighth (14-14-20); San Carlos City, ninth (14-5-10); Alaminos City, 10th (4-5-11), and four other delegations. (Leonardo Micua)
