
Bangus Taekwondo Club shines in regional tourney
YOUNG Dagupeño jins of the Bangus Taekwondo Club showcased their talents and harvested 15 gold, 10 silver, and six bronze medals during the Regional Carlos Palanca Jr. Taekwondo Championships held March 1 at the Robert Estrella Memorial Stadium in Rosales.
Some 700 budding taekwondo jins in Region I saw action in the tournament supported by the Philippine Taekwondo Association that featured two individual events of Poomsae (form) and Kyorugi (free sparring).
Members of the Bangus Taekwondo Club who garnered gold in Kyorugi were Steven Caalim, Reyghel Bugarin, Kenneth Paras, Jester Palissoc, Carlo Resurreccion, Mhara Martinez, Mia Munar, Frances David, Jandy Viari, Lannah De Jesus.
Silver medalists were Andrei Cuison, Matthew Cancino, Chester Esmas, Seam Aurelio, Gio Puzon, Scarlet Caalim, Sofia Morga, Jamarah Palisoc, Alysa Garcia, and Henzi Pascua.
The bronze podium finishers: Hans Castañeda, Josh Torio, Stefhany Erum), Angela Toio and Ysabelle Bacuta.
The winners in the Poomsae division were Ysabelle Bacuta, Elijah Abarabar, Jharelle Dalisay, Elijah Abarabar, Jharelle Dalisay, Cindy Zhang, Danielle David and Karl Maramba.
Led by head coach Carlo Jose Daroya, the Bangus Taekwondo jins will represent Dagupan City in this year’s Region I Athletic Association (R1AA) meet in San Juan, La Union on March 10. (Kim Gealogo)
