THREE archers of the San Carlos City Archery Club proved their mettle when they took home one gold, two silver, and two bronze medals during the Batang Pinoy 2024 in Puerto Princesa, Palawan last November 25.

Leila Jell Cano, a 14-year-old standout of Virgen Milagrosa University Foundation Special Science High School displayed excellent marksmanship skills when she top-scored the national youth competition with 333 first-distance points to clinch the gold medal in Recurve U15 Girls 50-meter Category.

Her teammates, Russel Piano of Coliling Elementary School, notched two silver medals in 2nd Distance and Overall FITA Qualifying Rounds under U13 Boys Category, while Markeexia Maiquez of Turac Elementary School scored two bronze finishes in the Qualifying Rounds and Overall Rank of the U13 Girls Category.

“I just focused on my form, remained calm, and hit one shot at a time.  It was a great experience to compete against the best archers in the country and to win a gold for Pangasinan is a remarkable feat,” said Cano.
