PSU family joins ‘TatakBoluntir’ fun run
STUDENTS from nine campuses of the Pangasinan State University (PSU) gathered early on December 9 to participate in the ‘TatakBoluntir Fun Run and Volunteerism Exhibit’ held in Lingayen town, which kicked off the celebration for National Volunteer Month and in support of the campaign to end Violence Against Women and Children (VAWC).
PSU Director for Public Relations and Communications Venus Sarmiento said around 600 participants, including students, staff, and stakeholders from various campuses, took part in the fun run, which featured three categories: 3 km, 5 km, and 10 km, traversing the Lingayen baywalk to the PSU campus
Sarmiento explained that the fun run was chosen as a unifying platform for PSU to create awareness and contribute to the campaign against VAWC.
The two-day event also included educational components such as teaching students about Gender and Development (GAD), GAD language, and seminars to end VAWC.
In addition to the fun run, volunteerism activities will continue for another month.
Razeal Resultay, vice president for Research Extension and Innovation, said each campus has a program linked to the 18-day campaign to end VAWC.
The event was supported by the National Economic and Development Authority, the local government unit of Lingayen, and other volunteer groups. (Ahikam Pasion)
