Dagupan brings home 3 silver, two bronze

THREE Dagupan athletes bannered the city when they earned a silver medal each, while two others got a bronze medal each at the Batang Pinoy 2024 as of Thursday, before the closing of the national games that reeled off November 23 and ended November 28 in Puerto Princesa, Palawan.
The silver medalists are Mark Tyrone Reyes in gymnastics’ floor exercise under the MAG division, Jandy Viari in Taekwondo’s Kyurogi in the Cadet Division for Under 148 CM and boxer Elliazar James Quinto who bagged the silver when organizers chose not to stage the final of the 46-48 kgs flyweight event.
The bronze medals came from Zoe Bettina Ilaw in gymnastics’ WAG HP3 category and Princess Pascual in Taekwondo Kyorugi- Cadet Female Category.
Competing among the best in the country, the Dagupan athletes were accompanied to Palawan by Sports Development Officer IV Finnela Sim, who said: “Winning a national sports events is an incredible challenge, and achieving a top 10 finish is also a significant accomplishment. My heartfelt congratulations to these outstanding athletes.”
Before they left for Palawan, the Dagupan athletes called on Mayor Belen Fernandez at the Dagupan City Hall on November 16 where they also were given their respective allowances and sports gears courtesy of TYR Philippines, Sports Resources Inc. and CSI Group of Companies.
In another event, Sim was proud to announce that Gab Jizmondo, a mainstay of Batang Dagupan swimming team, captured the gold medal in the 4 x 50 Freestyle Relay, and a silver in the 4 x 50 Medley Relay in the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) Season 87 Swimming Tournament while seeing action for the University of Sto.
