12 teams join ‘Coach Nic’ basketball tourney
THE second edition of the Coach Nic Jorge 3X3 Luzon Cup kicked-off last October 5-6, 2024 at Lakay Danny Ildefonso Basketball Court in Barangay Cabuloan, Urdaneta City.
Sanctioned by the Best Center’s Small Basketeers Philippines (SBP) and MILO Philippines, the longest-running youth basketball clinic in the country, hosted the Pangasinan Leg participated in by 12 schools and hoops clubs.
During the U12 finale, SBT RF Flores Basketball Club of Urdaneta stopped the Junior United Ballers of Asingan in a nailbiter, 54-50.
In the U14 Division, the Next Generation Hooperz of Villasis bagged the championship after beating Camp Ray Jun of Bayambang in a blowout finish, 75-60.
Other winners of the SBP Passerelle competition were Pangasinan Merchant Marine Academy ( PAMMA), Sea Warriors (U16), Panpacific University Underdogs of Urdaneta (U18), and Agila ng Este of Urdaneta (U19 Women).
The local winners secured a ticket to represent Pangasinan in the Luzon Regional Finals slated on October 26 to 27 at SM City Clark.
The tournament was held in honor of former national coach Nicanor “Nic” Fortich Jorge for his contributions to national grassroots basketball development. (Kim Gealogo)
