Young Dagupeños bag 9 gold in Fil-Chinese Swim Meet
‘Gold‘ Ang brothers: Julio and Jose
TWO young Filipino-Chinese swimmers of Dagupan City showcased their talents and carted away nine gold and six silver medals in the Filipino-Chinese Amateur Athletic Association (FCAAF) Age Group Swimming Meet held September 14-15 at the Rizal Memorial Sport Complex in Manila.
Participated in by 16 Filipino-Chinese schools across the country, the national swim meet aimed to help young athletes develop sportsmanship and foster love for the sport.
Nine-year-old Jose Joakin Ang put on an impressive performance in the Boys 10 and under category, bagging six gold medals in 50m, 100m, and 200m Freestyle, 50m and 100m Breaststroke, 200m Medley, and a silver finish in 50m Butterfly.
Meanwhile, his older brother, 13-year-old Juan Juleo Ang, stood out in the Boys 11-13 category and collected three gold medals in 50m Freestyle, 50m Breast Stroke, 200m Individual Medley, and three silver medals in 100m and 200m Freestyle, 50m and 100m Backstroke, and 50m Butterfly.
The young swimmers, all from Barangay Tapuac, represented the Pangasinan Universal Institute.
The Ang brothers were mentored by Dagupan City Bangus Swim Club head coaches Jeff Lao, Jan Michael Abubo, and Ruvini Francisco. (Kim Gealogo)
