MEMBERS of the Virgen Milagrosa University Foundation (VMUF) Panthers Track Team reasserted their sprinting prowess when they amassed 4 gold, 2 silver, and 2 bronze medals during the National ROTC Games last August 18-24 at the Cavite State University Oval in Indang town.

Mary Rose Frias captured the team’s first gold in the women’s 1,500-meter run during the second day of the competition.

In the gut-wrenching gold medal match of the men’s 200-meter run, Guhan Garcia left Air Force beats Rome Ojeno from University of Negros and Peter Mines Molina from Western Visayas State University in the final 10 meters to secure the gold with an official time of 21.6 seconds.

Geremae Domalanta duplicated the same feat in the women’s 200-meter final when she clocked 21.6 seconds over rivals Janice Patdu of Don Honorio Ventura State University in Pampanga, who logged in 26.8 seconds and Mecaila Jane Requierme of the Rizal Technological Institute with 27.3 seconds.

The team’s silver medalists were Mary Ann Delos Reyes (women’s 1,500m run) and Mary Rose Frias (women’s 800m run) while the bronze finishers are John Lloyd Velasco (men’s 100m run) and Edu Garibay (men’s 800m run).

Trained by VMUF Athletics head coach Dante Camaso, the VMUF track team will further hone their skills to compete in upcoming regional and national athletics events. (Kim Gealogo)
