ANGELA Eliron of Barangay Malued in Dagupan City bagged the gold in the taekwondo lightweight division in the recently concluded National ROTC Games held on August 18-24 in Indang, Cavite.

The 18-year-old aircraft maintenance technology student of WCC Aeronautical College in Binalonan swept the competition with an unblemished 3-0 record after clobbering Loriegel Bigwil of the Mountain Province State Polytechnic College, Hannah Hinguillo of Western Visayas State University, and Mary Grace Gepiga of Don Jose Ecleo Memorial College-Mindanao.

Trained by WCC Skyhawks Taekwondo head coaches Irian Mark Soriano and David Gallenito, Eliron’s training stood on endurance and body conditioning.

“The enhanced endurance that I worked on had paid off because the level of competition had increased in the nationals,” she said after the event.

Eliron, who also mentors young Dagupeoño jins, is a member of the Bangus Taekwondo Club coaching staff headed by coach CJ Daroya. (Kim Gealogo)
