THE Mayor Kevin Basketball League Inter-Barangay Basketball Tournament 2024 kicked off on September 14 at the Calasiao Sports Complex despite continued rains, which triggered flooding in parts of the town.

Billed to run for two weeks, the tournament seeks to unify the youth in 24 barangays of the municipality, which has been placed under a state of calamity due to floods.

“Sana itong ligang ito ay magkaroon tayo ng mga karagdagang kaibigan, hindi kaaway,” Mayor Kevin Macanlalay, for whom the tournament was named, said during the opening ceremony.

All games will be held in covered courts.

The event was made possible by Liga ng mga Barangay President Patrick Agustin Caramat and Sangguniang Kabataan Federation President Narayana Rsi Das Mesina. (Denisse Brillante/Intern)
