THE Sangguniang Panlungsod of Dagupan passed a resolution congratulating and commending Carlos Edriel Yulo, the two-time Filipino gold medalist in the recently concluded 2024 Paris Olympics.

Authored by Councilors Dennis Canto and Bradley Benavides, the resolution said Yulo’s gold medals in artistic floor exercise and artistic vault in gymnastics are a source of pride and inspiration to the Filipino people, especially young athletes.

Canto noted that in the 2024 Region 1 Athletic Association Meet, Dagupan was the regional champion in gymnastics although fifth in the overall standing.

He said the accomplishment of the 24-year-old Yulo, whose mother Angelica Poquiz is from Malasiqui town, motivates local athletes to train with the same zeal and discipline.

Yulo said he worked hard to prepare for the Olympics and this should not be difficult for athletes with the support of the government. (Leonardo Micua)
