UL sprinter bags gold in National PRISAA 2024
TWENTY-one-year-old Aris Narte of the University of Luzon dethroned defending champion Renier Ranges of Virgen Milagrosa University Foundation to clinch the 100-meter run title in the National Private Schools Athletic Association (PRISAA) 2024 last July 23 at the University of Bicol in Legazpi City, Albay.
Starting in lane seven, Narte maintained a steady pace with Ranges who was in lane six. In the 70-meter mark, Narte latter surged ahead and secured a two-stride advantage over the reigning champion.
Narte demonstrated his improved speed and clocked-in a new personal best of 10.7 seconds and recorded 11.1 seconds in the official hand time to lead the men’s heat in 100m.
Narte, a third-year criminology student, made a huge leap from his third-place finish in last year’s Regional PRISAA qualifiers to break his personal best by six meters and winning a gold medal in the nationals.
