Pangasinan thumps Bicol, 113-91 in MPBL

THE Pangasinan Heatwaves breezed past Bicolandia Oragons in a high-scoring fashion, 113-91 in last July 17’s MPBL hostilities at the Caloocan Sports Complex.

Michael Juico anchored the scoring load for Pangasinan who ruled in the post area with six points along with Michael Mabulac’s four points and six rebounds to gain a sizeable lead in the first quarter, 25-9.

Oragons’ Shaquille Alanes rallied right back in the second period with nine points and two three-pointers, but Heatwaves’ Jason Tan stopped the run with two pull-up triples, finishing with eight points at the half to retain the advantage, 57-41.

Alanes continued to make plays for Bicol through his 3-point connections and mid-range jumpers. However, the inside presence of Mabulac and Juico who combined for 15 points kept Pangasinan afloat in the third period, 89-70.

The Heatwaves maintained its all-around efficiency in the fourth, shooting 9-15 from the field against the 4-12 field goal of Bicol to seize control of the game.

Juico tallied a double-double serving with 18 points and 12 rebounds while Mabulac provided 14 points and six boards for the Heatwaves’ 7th win of the tourney.

Meanwhile, Bicol accounted for 38 points, four rebounds, and three steals from Alanes joined with the 15-point output of Hower Casajeros.

The Pangasinan Heatwaves preserved its 11th spot in the Northern Division standings with 7-11 win-loss card as 10 more games are left remaining in the 6th MPBL Season. (Kim Gealogo)
