Dagupan Taekwondo jins bag 3 gold in Baguio tourney
THE Bangus Taekwondo Club of Dagupan again demonstrated their taekwondo mastery anew and garnered three gold, two silver and eight bronze medals during the Luzon New Face Taekwondo Championship last June 16, at the Easter College in Baguio City.
Some 200 budding taekwondo players participated in the two-day competition that featured two categories of poomsae (form) and kyorugi (sparring).
The event was supported by the Philippine Taekwondo Association (PTA) in collaboration with the SMART/MVP Sports Foundation in search for the young taekwondo talents to represent Luzon to compete in the National Face of the Year Championship.
Among the podium finishers of Bangus Taekwondo Club are Chester Esmas (gold, individual poomsa, silver, kyorugi), Courtney Aquino (gold, individual poomsae), Jester Palisoc (gold, kyorugi), Jandy Viari (bronze, poomsae), Kenneth Paras (bronze, poomsae), Chloae Solomon and Reniel Serania (bronze, poomsae team category), Frances David (silver, kyorugi), Yvonne Ruizan (bronze, kyorugi), Seam Aurelio (bronze, kyorugi), Jharelle Dalisay (bronze, kyorugi), CJ CJ (bronze, kyorugi) and Chloae Solomon (bronze, kyorugi).
Jose Daroya, BTC head coach, said the team’s training was focused on learning new effective techniques and styles prior to the competition.
“The team relied on consistent practice, skills refinement and proper execution of fundamental techniques to contend against seasoned performers in the Luzon championships”, coach Daroya enthused. (Kim Gealogo)
