Luigi Laking wins Malasiqui Chess Open

LUIGI Laking of Mt. Province topped in the Men’s Open in the 6th Mayor Geslani Open Chess Challenge at the Arenas Civic Center in Malasiqui last March 23-24 outclassing all his opponents in the Seven- Round Swiss System.

The other winners in the chess tournament participated in by 95 chess players from Pangasinan, Tarlac, Nueva Ecija, Cagayan, Mt. Province and La Union were Bryce Vinluan in the Adults Open; Hannah Capitle in the Female Open; Andrew  Trinanes in the College Open; Timothy Falo in the Junior High School  Open;  Mark Roldan Ebenga in the Senior High Open; and Leo Vinluan in the Under 13 kiddie.

Mayor Noel Anthony Geslani emphasized during the opening ceremony the value of the sports in improving the wood pushers decision-making skills and building self-discipline.

“This chess challenge is not only an avenue for grassroots and guest players to develop their skills but to also teach them to make better decisions in life,” Geslani said. (Km Gealogo)
