Wado Ryu Dagupan shines in Reyes Memorial Karate Cup

MEMBERS of the Dagupan City-based Filipinas Wado Ryu Karate Club showcased their skills in karate by garnering the 1st Runner-Up Overall trophy with 7 gold, 3 silver, and 3 bronze 7 gold, 3 silver and 3 bronze medals in the 2nd Renshi Raymund Lee Reyes Memorial Cup last March 24, 2024 held at Robinsons Metro East in Marikina City.

The gold medals were won by Vishnujana Mesina (male advance kata and open kumite) while Govinda Mesina earned two gold medals in advance kata and open kumite.

Jelliene De Luna finished with a gold in girls 12-13 intermediate kata, Jurre Soriano in 8-9 advance kata, in addition to his bronze medals in open limited, while Narifa Pili snatched her own gold in the 14-15 girls open kumite and  bronze in advance kata.

Shane Enrico Vasquez bagged two silver medals in male advance kata and open kumite, while Beatrice Bistudio got another silver in girls 14-15 intermediate kata.

The team’s third bronze medalist was Mohammad Rayyan Macada-ag  in the 13-14 male advance kata.

The day-long competition was sanctioned by the Philippine Karatedo Traditional and Sports (PKTS) in honor of the late founder Raymund Lee Reyes, former secretary-general of the Philippine Karatedo Association.
