Team Pangasinan Karate takes home medals from Batang Pinoy 2023

NOT to be outdone in the Batang Pinoy and Philippine National Games 2023 held in Pasig City last December 17-22, the jins of Team Pangasinan Karate harvested two gold, two silver and bronze medals.

Among the Pangasinan karate jins who brought national accolades to the province were Mark Vincent Patungan who earned the gold in the 12-13 male kumite and Nasrifa Pili who captured the gold in the cadet female 47kg kumite.

Patungan, 12, who studies at Malasiqui Catholic School, prevailed over 60 karatekas in his class to capture the national crown.

“I’m grateful for all the people who supported me in my journey. All the input I gained from months of strenuous training and preparation have come into fruition,” Patungan enthused.

Meanwhile, Shane Enrico Vasquez ended with a silver in cadet male advance kata, and was matched with another silver by Jurre Soriano in the 8-9 male kumite, aside from earning the bronze in boys advance kata.

The other bronze medalists are Jelliene De Luna in the 12-13 girls intermediate kata; Jeremy De Guzman in the 16-17 boys intermediate kata; Rea Beatrice Bistudio in the 14-15 girls intermediate kata; and Elisha Ulanday in the 14-15 girls intermediate kata.
