THE Topnotch of the Philippine College of Science and Technology (PhilCST) in Calasiao wrested the championship crown in the National Basketball Training Center’s (NBTC) Developmental Basketball League (DBL) during Chairman’s Cup Local Qualifying Eliminations last January 13 at the Manaoag Sports Complex.

In the championship match, PhilCST thwarted the Cipriano Primicias National High School from Alcala in the nerve-wracking 86 to 72 finish.

Participated in by 61 cage teams from public and private schools in the province, the school-based local tourney was part of the NBTC year-round program to develop grassroots basketball standouts who will compete in a nationwide youth basketball tournament.

The PhilCST is set to advance to the NBTC Regional Qualifiers and will represent Pangasinan against the 18 qualifying teams from Region I, II, III, and Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) slated on January 19-21 in Laoag City, Ilocos Norte. (Kim Gealogo)
