THE Topnotch basketball team of Philippine College of Science and Technology – Calasiao (Philcst) advanced to the National Basketball Training Center (NBTC) National Championships after clinching the runner-up title in the Regional Qualifiers held in Laoag, City last January 21.

Heading into the Regional Finals, Topnotch suffered loss in the hands of CAMANAVA’s (Caloocan, Malabon, Navotas and Valenzuela) Yengskivel Sportswear in the regional final with a score of 83-66.

Topnotch’s Kian Esperanza tallied 21 points with three triples, but these were not enough to outshine Jevy Hinoguin of Yengskivel who registered 27 points, two assists and three steals.

In the group stages, Topnotch swept the elimination games with a 4-0 standing. In addition to its runner-up finish in regional games, Topnotch earned an automatic slot for the national tilt.

Topnotch will see action in the NBTC National Championships representing Pangasinan against the nation’s powerhouse teams slated on March 18-24 at MOA Arena, Pasay City. (Kim Gealogo)
