TWO young taekwondo jins, a girl and a boy, both of the Bangus Taekwondo Club, grabbed one gold and one bronze to take podium finishes in the Philippine Taekwondo Association’s (PTA) National Team Selections for Poomsae and Kyorugi events last November 25-26 at Ayala Malls Manila Bay in Pasay City.

The young jin who bagged the lone gold for the club was Princess Pascual, 13, a student in St. Albert the Great in Dagupan, who triumphed in the Kyorgi Cadet Division, while Terence Gio Puzon, 12, a high school student at the University of Luzon, won the bronze medal in boys’ Poomsae Cadet Division. Pascual earned a spot in the Philippine Taekwondo Team.

The qualifying event selected eight new members of the Philippine Taekwondo Team that  represent the country for upcoming international Rae kiwi competitions.

“The victory is worth all the sacrifices we made. I’m glad to win against the best jins in the country and display good sportsmanship,” said an elated Pascual.

Bangus Taekwondo Club Head Coach Carlo Jose Daroya mentored the jins to showcase disciplined techniques and dedication to their crafts. (Kim Gealogo)
