“I’ve told myself to be optimistic as always and bring my top performance as I stepped on the field, thankfully, my trainings paid off and we’ll continue to get better”, Garcia added.

Meanwhile, Venus Macaraeg, Jeneth Manames, and Erika Fortin bagged the silver in 4×400 relay together with the second team composed of Angelie Teorima, Daniela Joy Peralta, Mary Rose Frias and Venus Macaraeg who grabbed silver in 4×100-m relay competition.

Due to their superb performance in the oval, the VMUF Track and Field team was Region 1 overall champion in Men’s Tertiary Division under the guidance of head coach Dante Damasco who  also received the Most Outstanding Coach award, having guided the team to capture their best time and maintained focus in their respective event.

After the PRISAA Games, the VMUF athletics team is now preparing for the coming SEA Games Qualifying Games. (Kim Gealogo, University of Luzon Intern )
