Five Dagupan youth boxers shine in Rizal Invitational Tourney
FIVE youth boxers from Dagupan City prevailed over their respective opponents during the Bakbakan sa Baggandang Baras ” Invitational Boxing Tournament held in Baras, Rizal on June 24.
Under the mentorship of Coach Billy Quinto Sr. and Assistant Coach John Quinto, the visiting Dagupan boxers who won over the host boxers were: Daniel de Garcia, 11; Eliazar Quinto, 14; Narico Decano Jr., 17; Billy Quinto, 16; and Jhyms de Garcia, 18, all of Barangay Lucao and Poblacion, Dagupan City.
The other member of the team is Billy Quinto, 18.
They won despite short preparations for the invitational boxing tournament extended by the municipality of Baras, Rizal.
Coach Quinto said the wealth of experience gained by his boxers in that invitational boxing tournament was priceless.
He said their primary goal is for all members of their team to be included in the Philippine Boxing Team that will represent the country in various international tournaments. (Kim Gealogo, University of Luzon Intern)
