THE Dagupan Swim Team carded a combined score of 1,281.50 points registered by its swimmers to beat all visitors and challengers that saw action in  Dagupan Bangus Festival 2023’s Mayor Belen Fernandez Cup 2023 Competition held April 15 and 16 at the Dagupan Pool Site.

There were 17 top swimming teams in Pangasinan and North and Central Luzon that participated.

However despite its victory, Finnela Sim, Dagupan’s sports commission head, is not very optimistic how Dagupan would fare in the swimming competition in the Region 1 Athletic Association (R1AA) in San Carlos City next month since they lack training.

Recall that the 2023 annual budget of P864.91 million by the Sangguniang Panlungsod’s majority, cancelled funding for the training of the city’s delegation .

One Ilocos Sur Swim Team was in close second with 1,121.50 points, while Ilocos Sur Aqua Propellers S.C. amassed 1,013 points for third place, followed by Pangasinan Aqua Dragon Warrior at 807.50 points for a fourth place finish.

Fifth placer was San Carlos City Pang Searingan with 652 points, Bayambang Dolphins Swim Team was sixth with 626 points, La Union Bull Sharks Swim Team earned 582 points for seventh place, followed by Baguio Sea Lion Swim Club in eighth place at 466 points.

In ninth place with 369 points was the Urdaneta Lingayen Swim Team, followed by Pangasinan Thresher Sharks Swim Team in 10th place with 337.50 points.

The other teams that saw action in the swimming competition were San Jose Galleon Swim Club, 296 points, Tarlac Mako Shark Swim Team, 254.50 points; Torpedo Ray Swim Aquatic, 252 points; Bulacan Great White Sharks Team, 193 point; Ilocanos Sharks Swim Club, 171.50 points; Manlalangoy Swim Team, 126 points, and Ibanez Swim Team, 36 points.
