‘Pitaki Boyz’ cyclists dominate Clark Field race

THE Jazy Garcia- sponsored Pangasinan cycling squad called “Pitaki Boyz” led by 2003 Tour Pilipinas first runner-up Elmo Ramos, Jr., bagged the top five positions of the open category of the 3rd Deogracias Dee Memorial   Cycling Circuit Classic held last January 14 at   Clark Field, Pampanga.More...
The Tarlac City born Binalonan-based Ramos, 26, broke away from the main  pack after the fourth round of six to finish all by his lonesome self and pocketed the P15,000 top prize plus a huge trophy.
Ramos’ teammates Adrian Malanum and Ariel Flores, both from Mangaldan finished second and third to bag P10,000 and P7,000 and trophies, respectively. Baler Ravina of Asingan came in fourth worth P5,000. The aging but indefatigable Loreto dela Carsel of Sta. Barbara checked in fifth, good for P3,000.
The 102-kilometer event was contested by 55-man pro-am Tour elite riders accredited by the organizers.
In the executive division with 130 participants, little known Ardie Bucao of San Fabian ruled the 90- kilometer trek to clinch the P12,000 top prize.
Non-Pangasinense riders Rex Cortes, Eric Carandang and Alberto Aves, came in second, third and fourth to bag P9,000, P6,000 and P4,000, respectively.
Mangaldan native Guam-based Jazy Garcia finished fifth to earn P2,000.
The rich annual bikefest was organized by John Welkie and participated in by the riders from Pampanga, Zambales, Tarlac, Nueva Ecija, Bulacan, Metro Manila and Pangasinan.
