DAGUPAN, FINALIST FOR THE 2025 SEAL OF CHILD-FRIENDLY LOCAL GOVERNANCE

UNLISERBISYO

Dagupan City, once again, under the leadership of Mayor Belen T. Fernandez, demonstrated its unwavering commitment to building a safe, healthy and empowering environment for every child as it emerged as a finalist for the 2025 Seal of Child-Friendly Local Governance, based on the results of the 2025 Child-Friendly Local Governance Audit for Performance Year 2024.

According to the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Pangasinan, Dagupan is among the 37 Local Government Units in the province that successfully passed the comprehensive audit, which evaluates an LGU’s capacity to ensure the safety, welfare, rights and holistic development of its children.

In Dagupan, child-centered initiatives continue to grow through programs on protection, nutrition, health, education and safe communities. These include the Good Touch Bad Touch campaign, enhanced immunization efforts, expanded free health services, feeding programs, safe learning environments, disaster-ready schools and other support systems designed to uphold the well-being of every child.

CALMAY RESIDENTS RECEIVE 2,689 HEALTH SERVICES

A TOTAL of 2,689 health services were delivered to residents of Barangay Calmay through the “Purok Kalusugan” program held on December 3, at the Most Holy Rosary Parish. The activity forms part of the city government’s ongoing initiative to bring essential health services closer to communities.

Mayor Belen Fernandez extended her gratitude to the Department of Health led by Secretary Ted Herbosa, the City Nutrition Office under Mariel Visperas, and the City Health Office, headed by Dr. Julita De Venecia, including all participating doctors, nutrition personnel, health workers, and volunteers. “The Purok Kalusugan program is proof that when local and national governments work together, health services become more accessible to the people. This is the true meaning of public service—ensuring that every family feels the presence and concern of the government, wherever they may live,” the mayor said.

DAGUPAN BARANGAYS BACK DRIVE VS VIOLENCE

ALL 31 barangays of Dagupan City have thrown full support behind the nationwide 18-Day Campaign to End Violence Against Women (VAW). Through their Barangay Violence Against Women and Children (VAWC) Desk Officers, the villages distributed informational brochures and mounted tarpaulins to promote the campaign’s theme, “UNiTEd for a VAW-Free Philippines.”

The initiative aims to strengthen community advocacy for safe spaces for women and children and to reinforce efforts to prevent all forms of gender-based violence. City officials expressed confidence that with active participation from every barangay, Dagupan can help push long-term and meaningful change that upholds the welfare and protection of women and the youth.
