
SCHOOL BUILDINGS INSPECTED AFTER INTENSITY LEVEL 2 EARTHQUAKE

ENGINEERS and personnel from the City Engineering Office, CDRRMO and DepEd were directed by Mayor Belen Fernandez to evaluate the structural stability of the school buildings after the intensity level 2 earthquake in Dagupan City on November 26.
While there was no reported visible damage to school buildings by DepEd Engineer Tatum Manzano of Dagupan SDO, admitted there were school buildings that suffered structural damage from the July 2022 magnitude 7.3 earthquake and underwent repairs, namely, the 4-Storey PAGCOR Building at the Dagupan City National High School (DCNHS) and 3-Storey School Building at the Gen. Gregorio del Pilar Elementary School (GGDPES).
Inspections were made by the CEO – Building and Electrical Section for their safety by Engr. Ferdinand Flores, Engr. Francis Maramba, at Ervin Festejo, and reported that no major damages were found in the structural frames of the buildings. Also ordered to make the rounds of inspection were DCNHS Asst. Principal Viginia dela Rosa, GGDPES Principal II Jimmy Cancino, DepEd DRRM Dept. Admin Support II Vincent Idio ang with CDRRMO.
Mayor Belen urged everyone to be always vigilant and prepared to look into safety of their buildings, whether public or private. It will be recalled that the “HANDA KA BA?” lectures on Earthquake and Tsunami Awareness and Community Preparedness were conducted by experts from DOST-PHIVOLCS last January 2024 for the barangay chairmen, DepEd SDO Dagupan, and other sectors in the city. DAGUPEÑO ATHLETES JOIN BATANG PINOY 2024, BAG MEDALS IN BP AND UAAP SWIMMING TOURNAMENT
YOUNG Dagupeño athletes participate in the national sports competition Batang Pinoy 2024, held from November 23-28, 2024, at Puerto Princesa City, Palawan.
Taekwondo athlete Jandy Viari captured the city’s first silver medal in the Taekwondo – Kyurogi Cadet Division Under 148CM while Gymnast and Dagupeña developmental athelete Bettina Zoe Ilaw bagged the city’s first bronze medal in the Gymnastics – WAG HP3 category.
City athletes James Elliazar Quinto and Seneka Quimson placed first in the Boxing and Table Tennis elimination rounds, respectively.
The rest of the city’s sports team, headed by Sports Development Officer IV Finnela Sim, will compete in the upcoming swimming competitions.
Dagupeño swimmer Gab Jizmundo clinched the gold medal in the 4×50 Freestyle Relay and the silver medal in the 4×50 Medley Relay in the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) Season 87 Swimming Tournament.

DAGUPEÑO CENTENARIAN RECEIVES P100,000.
CENTENARIAN Petrolina Fernandez Suarez or “Bai Loleng” turned 100 years old last October 25 of this year. Aside from the P100,000 cash gift from the national government, the city government of Dagupan led by Mayor Belen Fernandez handed a P20,000 cash grant through Acting City Mayor Bryan Kua, Office of the Senior Citizens Affairs and City Social Welfare and Development for reaching 100th year.
Mayor Belen thanked President PBBM in a post for the recognition given to the centenarian residing from barangay Caranglaan.
“Maraming salamat po sa ating nasyonal na gobyerno, sa ating mahal na Presidente PBBM sa pagkakaloob ng pagkilala at pagmamahal sa ating centenarian mula Barangay Caranglaan,” the local chief executive stated.
