Dagupan City Hall 1960s

Through Lolo’s Lens: Dagupan in the 60’s

By Norman Valenzuela

MY Lolo Marcial was the official photographer for The Manila Times. He preserved his collection of vintage black and white camera shots which has become the source of inspiration for my father, Art G. Valenzuela, who pursued a career in media and documentary production, carrying on his father’s legacy for decades before his recent passing.

And we inherited all these 120mm and 35mm black and white films. We are in the process of archiving these gems and sharing them to you.

Here are two striking photos when my Lolo Marcial of the Dagupan City Hall and a farm road scene. He had a knack for capturing the beauty of everyday life of ordinary scenes.

My father once said that the meaning of Valenzuela was an eye for value.  That was legacy, his search for the truly valuable things in life and community.
