The groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of a new school building for Salisay Elementary School was held last November 9.

According to Mayor Belen Fernandez, the new building is one among the projects included in the recently approved 2023 annual budget.

Para po sa inyo ito. At magpasalamat po tayo sa tulong nila Vice Mayor Bryan Kua, Councilors Michael Fernandez, Dennis Canto, Jigs Seen, Marcelino Fernandez at Joshua Bugayong dahil sa kanila’y pumasa ang budget na matagal nang pinipigilan ng 7 Majority Councilors,”  the mayor said after the ceremony.

It will be recalled that last August, on the first day of classes of pupils at the Salisay ES, Mayor Belen conducted an inspection of the school’s premises, together with City Engineer Josephine Corpuz, they saw the Grade 1 pupils holding classes inside an open area in the gym because of lack of classrooms in the school.

The City Engineering Office’s assessment cited dark and dilapidated conditions of the school’s classrooms as one the reasons why most of the school’s classrooms are not being used.

Mayor Belen thanked DepEd Schools Division Superintendent Rowena Banzon for her continued support for Unliserbisyo Programs for the city’s youths. (Dagupan CIO News)
