FLOOD MITIGATION COMMISSION GETS UPDATE ON ROAD AND DRAINAGE CONSTRUCTION

UPDATES and progress of the ongoing road elevation and drainage construction of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Region 1 in Dagupan City were discussed anew during a meeting of the Flood Mitigation Commission last October 26 at the City Mayor’s Office.

Mayor Belen Fernandez facilitated the commission’s third meeting to fast track the completion of the construction project, particularly in the busy streets of Arellano, A.B. Fernandez, M.H. del Pilar and Perez Boulevard, through close coordination with the regional DPWH, Pangasinan 2nd Engineering District, Dagupan Electric Corporation (DECORP), Dagupan City Water District (DCWD)/PAMANA, cable and telecommunication companies and the project contractor.

DECORP and other utility companies provided the status on the transfer of lines and posts prior to immediate drainage and PCC pavement construction to ease the one-way traffic scheme along Arellano St.

Meanwhile, the DCWD/PAMANA gave a report on the emergency water supply suspension in the city last October 20 due to broken transmission lines caused by the road construction.

The DPWH likewise set a timetable for the completion of Arellano St., A.B. Fernandez, M.H. del Pilar and Perez Blvd. road construction.

The city government and the DPWH also committed to extend assistance in the restoration of stalls affected by the road elevation.

The contractor moreover pledged to work on a 24-hour shifting schedule to complete the project in the earliest possible time while the Public Order and Safety Office was tasked to ensure the safety of pedestrians and commuters, strictly monitor ‘No Parking’ areas and install traffic signages.
