THIS was the advice of Mayor Belen Fernandez to some 30 students who participated in the 20-day Special Program for the Employment of Students (SPES) and received their payouts from the city government on Oct. 3. SPES is a joint project of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) and Dagupan City’s Public Employment Service Office (PESO) where qualified SPES beneficiaries received P10,810.00, similar to the entry level salary (SG 1) of a government employee; P6,486 was the counterpart of the city government while P4,324 was the counterpart of DOLE. “Never give up on your dreams,” she told the participants. DAGUPAN IS 2023 REGIONAL GAWAD PAGKILALA AWARDEE

THE Dagupan City government was recently cited by the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) Region 1 as Regional Gawad Pagkilala Awardee 2023 during the  awarding ceremonies on September 29 at Em Royalle, San Juan in La Union in observance of the 60th Fish Conservation Week. The event honored institutional partners who support BFAR’s advocacy to sustain management of fisheries and aquatic resources and to combat unsustainable fishing activities. City Agriculture Officer-in-Charge Patrick Dizon received the award for Mayor Belen Fernandez. BFAR Regional Director Rosario Segundina Gaerlan said the Dagupan City government was recognized for the city’s support for the agency’s programs to improve the livelihood of the fishing sector.

MISTING IN LASIP GRANDE
